Menteri Keuangan, Agus D. Martowardojo, akan memenuhi panggilan KPK untuk diperiksa sebagai saksi terkait penyelidikan dugaan kasus suap di Kementerian Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi pada Selasa, 4 Oktober 2011 pukul 10.00 WIB.
"Saya baru sampai dari Washington kemarin dan baru mendengar untuk diminta klarifikasi di KPK. Saya akan datang ke KPK Selasa (4/10) jam 10," kata Agus seusai meresmikan Sensus Pajak Nasional di Gedung Jakarta International Event & Convention Center (JITEC) Mangga Dua Square, Jakarta, Jumat (30/9).
Rencananya, hari Jumat, Agus dipanggil KPK untuk dimintai keterangan seputar kasus dugaan suap di Kementerian Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi.

Monkey forest management prepares monkey ceremony

Monkey Forest management at Padangtegal village, Ubud subdistrict, Gianyar district, Bali, is preparing a ceremony for the monkeys living in that tourism object.

Indonesia calls for UN reform

Indonesia expressed hope the United Nations could strengthen its central role of promoting cooperation among countries in the world by reforming itself.

"To be able to address new and emerging challenges, and not least, to identify new opportunities, full support for, and reform of the United Nations are key. That is the only way the United Nations can remain relevant. The only way to ensure that multilateralism will flourish," Indonesian foreign minister Marty Natalegawa said at the 66th UN General Assembly here on Monday.

Traditional sport events to take place in October

The Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Federation (FORMI) will be holding traditional sport matches in the National Recreational Sports festival (FORNAS) from October 6 through 9, 2011, the events coordinator said.

A total of 26 sport games will be competed during the event scheduled to be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, FORNAS coordinator Prahmanda Rizky Pratama said here on Sunday.

"The sport games will be concluded by World Walking Day to be held on October 9," Pratama said.

RI forest industry`s employment hits 3.7 million

A new report by consultancy ITS Global has found that Indonesia`s forest-based industries including timber harvesting, wood product manufacturing and pulp and paper products, make a substantial contribution to Indonesia`s economy.

The report said the sectors contribute approximately USD 21 billion to Indonesia`s GDP, or roughly 3.5 percent of the national economy, ITS Global said in a press statement here on Friday.

Wood products and pulp and paper manufacturing represent around 8.3 per cent of manufacturing value-added.

Cina Dukung Palestina di PBB

Cina Senin telah menekankan dukungannya pada upaya Palestina untuk memperoleh keanggotaan penuh Perserikatan Bangsa-bangsa, tapi menyerukan tindakan internasional yang "hati-hati" terhadap Suriah.
Menteri Luar Negeri Cina Yang Jiechi mengatakan negaranya akan mendukung presiden Palestina Mahmud Abbas dalam pemilihan di Dewan Keamanan PBB mengenai keanggotaan itu, dimana Amerika Serikat telah berjanji untuk memveto.
"Cina secara konsisten mendukung maksud adil pembentukan sebuah negara Palestina merdeka dan mendukung keanggotaan Palestina di PBB," kata Yang dalam pidato pada Majelis Umum PBB.
Ia mengatakan, Cina mendukung "perundingan politik" untuk mencapai solusi dua negara antara Palestina dan Israel.

Ditemukan Partikel Neutrino yang Melampaui Kecepatan Cahaya

Sejumlah ilmuwan di Swiss mengungkapkan bahwa dari hasil penelitian mereka selama bertahun-tahun, mereka menemukan sebuah partikel kecil yang kecepatannya melebihi kecepatan cahaya dan melawan hukum alam. Demikian dilansir CNN, Jumat (23/9/2011).
Para ahli fisika ini mengatakan jika partikel yang berbentuk neutrinos ini dikirim di bawah tanah dari laboratorium di Swiss dan Italia berjarak 730 kilometer dan sampai kurang dari satu detik jika di banding dengan kecepatan cahaya yang dipancarkan dalam jarak yang sama.
Laporan ini dipublikasikan oleh lembaga peneliti yang bekerja di sebuah proyek bernama eksperimen Opera yang berbasis di European Organization for Nuclear Research yang dikenal dengan nama CERN.
CERN adalah tempat dari Large Hadron Collider. "Saya kaget dan sungguh di luar dugaan," demikian ujar Antonio Ereditato, juru bicara proyek Opera di Universitas Bern di Swiss.
Meski demikian, para peneliti yakin jika apa yang mereka lakukan sudah benar. Penemuan ini tentu saja menantang teori Albert Enstein tentang relativitas dan teori klasik yang mengatakan tak ada satupun yang bisa mengalahkan kecepatan cahaya.
"Ini adalah penemuan yang luar biasa jika benar," kata Professor Neville Harnew, kepala peneliti partikel fisik di Oxford University. Ia menambahkan, jika peneliti konsisten menunjukkan kebenaran itu maka ini adalah bentuk revolusi fisika seperti yang suda dikenal selama ini.

Suu Kyi wins international relations prize

Myanmar democracy campaigner Aung San Suu Kyi has won this year`s Chatham House prize for her contribution to the improvement of international relations, the British think-tank said Friday.

The 66-year-old`s fight to bring political change to Myanmar, for which she has had to spend most of the last two decades under house arrest, had made her an international symbol of democracy and peaceful resistance, it said.

"Her consistently measured and non-violent approach towards ending military rule in Burma has served as a powerful example to all those struggling to bring about democratic and accountable systems of governance in their countries," said Chatham House director Robin Niblett.

Rapper Gucci Mane sent to jail in Georgia

Rapper Gucci Mane will spend the next six months in jail in Georgia after admitting on Tuesday to pushing a woman out of his car earlier this year.

The rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, pleaded guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of reckless conduct and one count of disorderly conduct, said Emily Gest, spokeswoman for the DeKalb County Solicitor-General`s Office.

According to police, the 31-year-old Mane picked up a woman at a suburban Atlanta mall in January, invited her out for breakfast and then tried to offer her $150 to stop by a hotel with him.

When she refused, he pushed her out of his car while it was in motion. She was taken to the hospital with "soreness and pain."

Intel, Google announce partnership for Android smartphones

Intel and Google on Tuesday announced a partnership to enable the world`s largest chip maker`s architecture on the search giant`s products, saying that an Intel chip-based Android smartphone will hit the market in the first half of 2012.

In a joint press release, the two companies said the future versions of Android mobile operating system will support Intel`s low power Atom processors, in addition to other architectures.

At the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco on Tuesday, Intel Chief Executive Officer Paul Otellini said the Intel smartphone chip is code-named Medfield and based on the company`s own PC- based computer architecture.

Mass transportation to reduce fuel oil consumption

The development of mass transportation is one solution to reduce fuel oil consumption, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Darwin Zahedy Saleh has said.

"Indonesia has included such a strategic substance of mass transportation into the agenda of ASEAN+3 meeting," Darwin said in text message to Antara on Wednesday.

The energy minister is in Brunai Darussalam to attend the 29th ASEAN Energy Ministerial Meeting which will be followed by the ASEAN+3 Forum for participation of the ten ASEAN members and three dialog partners China, Japan, and South Korea.

Tourist sues Starbucks over "hidden camera"

Starbucks is being sued for $3 million by a tourist from Virginia who says his five-year-old daughter found a video camera hidden in the washroom of one of its Washington outlets.

William Yockey (28) accuses the Seattle-based global coffee chain of invasion of privacy, negligence, "intentional infliction of emotional distress" and negligent hiring, training and supervision of staff.

Yockey, who brought his family to the US capital in April, "immediately reported this humiliating and disgusting matter" to the manager of the outlet, a few blocks from the White House, said a copy of his lawsuit seen Tuesday.

Hamas slams Obama`s UN speech

The Gaza Strip ruler, Islamic Hamas movement, slammed on Wednesday (Sept. 21) U.S. President Barack Obama`s speech at the United Nations General Assembly, saying the speech tried to rescue Israel.

Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, said in a press statement that the speech "was a poor attempt to rescue Israel out of its crisis throughout fake calls that have no credit for the Palestinians."

"Obama called on the Palestinians to get back to direct negotiations with Israel, which is failed, and our people don`t count at all on the Americans," the statement said.

Football star Didier Drogba said Tuesday he was determined to make a valid contribution to re-establishing peace in his native Ivory Coast as a member of the country`s truth and reconciliation panel.
"I am not superman," the striker for English Premier League club Chelsea told a small group of journalists in London. "I leave the politics to the politicians, but I would like to add my contribution."
In a press conference earlier with former Ivory Coast prime minister Charles Konan Banny, who will chair the panel, Drogba expressed his pride at being invited to help probe the post-election violence in which 3,000 people were killed.
"I think the Ivorian people have suffered too much," Drogba said.

President Yudhoyono visits Muarojambi temple

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Thursday morning visited Muarojambi Temple which has been registered by UNESCO to be one of the world`s cultural heritage monuments.
The head of state visited the Temple, considered one of the richest archaeological sites on the island of Sumatra, in the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Culture and Tourism Minister Jerwo Wacik, Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono and a number of other ministers, Jambi Governor Hasan Basri Agus, and several local officials.
President Yudhoyono arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day working visit until Friday, and the visit to Muarojambi Temple is part of his agenda.

Indonesia asks Thailand to contribute in ASEAN summit

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked Thailand to contribute in the success of ASEAN agenda in ASEAN Summit and East Asia Summit in Bali in November this year.

"I hope Thailand will contribute and participate in ASEAN Summit and East Asia Summit in Bali later in November so that ASEAN community becomes more robust in the development of regional political and economic architecture," President Yudhoyono said in a press statement after a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at Merdeka Palace on Monday.

On the occasion the president expressed hope that with a support from all Asean heads of states and governments, the Bali summit in November would yield a solution to both regional and international problems.

Mount Tambora still in alert status

Mount Tambora is still on Alert III status since September 8, 2011, due to its high volcanic activities, a local climatology officer said here Monday.

"The status remains, no change," the mineral and geology chief of the mining and energy office Muhammaddin said.

Visual monitoring and volcanic activities still continues to anticipate any factors that might increase the mount`s status in the future.

The volcanology and mitigation agency also categorized the most affected areas into three disaster-prone areas, namely prone area III (three kilometers radius from the crater), prone area II (five kilometers from the crater) and prone area I (eight kilometers).

Food in Japan found tainted by radiation

Food from and near the center of Japan`s March 11 quake-tsunami disaster was found to contain high levels of radiation, Japanese officials reported Saturday.

Yukio Edano, Japan`s chief Cabinet secretary, confirmed at a news conference Saturday that milk produced by a farm in Fukushima Prefecture near a crippled power plant and spinach from the neighboring Ibaraki Prefecture were found to be tainted with radiation levels slightly above that set by the government.

However, Edano said, the contaminated food posed no immediate threat to human health. The public should remain calm, he urged.

Minister : Saadi Kadhafi arrives in Niger

One of deposed Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi`s sons, Saadi Kadhafi, arrived Sunday in Niger, a government spokesman said.

"Today, September 11, a patrol of the Nigerien armed forces intercepted a convoy in which was found one of Kadhafi`s sons," Marou Amadou said.

It was Saadi Kadhafi, a former footballer, said Amadou, who is also Niger`s justice minister.

"At this moment the convoy is en route to Agadez (northern Niger). The convoy could arrive in Niamey between now and tomorrow," he added.

Moammer Kadhafi was loved by his people

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said Friday that ousted Libyan leader Moamer was loved by his people and that the rebellion that toppled him was not a popular uprising.
"This wasn`t a popular uprising," like in other north African countries "where the wind of freedom begins to blow," he told young supporters of his People of Freedom party gathered in Rome.
"Powerful men decided to give life to a new era by putting out Kadhafi," he said.
"This wasn`t a popular uprising because Kadhafi was loved by his people, as I was able to see when I went to Libya."

IMF recognizes Libya rebel authority as formal member

Libyan rebel authority the National Transition Council was formally recognized by the membership of the International Monetary Fund, the IMF Chief Christine Lagarde said Saturday at the press conference closing the meeting.
"I`m very pleased to report that the IMF membership now recognized the National Transition Council (NTC) as the new government of Libya. We are an international institution that can only recognize new institutions and new governments if the membership in its large majority recognizes the new government and that has been the case for Libya that is now normally represented at the IMF by the National Transitional Council," she said.

Wah, Ternyata Emas Berasal Dari Luar Angkasa

Para ilmuwan mengatakan mereka telah menemukan bukti bahwa beberapa logam berharga, antara lain emas dan platinum, berasal dari angkasa luar miliaran tahun lalu.
Para peneliti dari Universitas Bristol, Inggris mengambil kesimpulan berdasarkan penelitian terhadap endapan berusia empat miliar tahun di Greenland. Mereka menemukan isotop yang berada di dalam endapan jelas berbeda dengan isotop yang berasal dari Bumi.
Menurut mereka, perbedaan ini memperkuat teori yang menyebutkan logam-logam berharga yang kita gunakan sekarang ini sampai ke bumi melalui pelepasan sebuah meteor besar ketika meteor baru berusia 200 juta tahun. Logam emas dan logam-logam berat lain kemudian tenggelam ke dalam inti bumi yang meleleh pada masa-masa awal.

Film diva Penelope Cruz arrives in Sarajevo to play Italian widow

Spanish movie diva Penelope Cruz arrived in Bosnian capital Sarajevo on Wednesday to shoot a film "Venuto al Mondo", directed by Italy`s Sergio Castellitto, based on a novel by Margaret Mazzantini.

Cruz was accompanied by her husband Javier Bardem and their eight month old son Leo. She will play an Italian widow, Gema, who returns to Sarajevo after the war to show her son where he was born and where his father was killed.

Cruz told journalists she generally doesn`t like war stories, but thought it would be one of most important roles in her career. She was "emotionally very touched" by Mazazantini`s novel, she said.

TSMC likely to win orders from Apple next year

The 2012 capital expenditure forecast for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) will show whether the world`s largest contract chip maker will win orders for Apple Inc.`s new processor, a Taipei-based analyst said Wednesday.

The market anticipates that Apple will give TSMC the orders for its A6 processor that is used in new iPhones and iPads, in an effort to diversify its risks after working with Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea for years.

Indonesian athletes who will compete in the 26th Sea Games and the ASEAN Para Games 2011 have to show their best achievement, Vice President Boediono said here on Friday.

"Let us show our best in the sports achievement," the vice president said in his address at the commemoration of the 28th National Sports Day (Haornas) 2011 in the Jakarta main sports stadium on Friday.

Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI/the central bank) Darmin Nasution predicted Indonesia`s economic growth in 2012 at below the government`s target of 6.7 percent it set in the 2011 draft state budget.

The BI governor said that the slower economic growth which was predicted to be lower than the target was due to the slowing down of world`s economic performance as a result of the financial crisis in the United States and Europe.

"The slowing down of the world economy will have impact on the declining of commodity prices that will eventually drive down export and economic growth. With that conditions the economic growth in 2012 could be below the target," Darmin said during a meeting with the budgetary body of the House recently.

Mexico leader, Felipe Calderon meets Dalai Lama

Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Friday held "private" talks with the Dalai Lama -- a move sure to irritate China, which says the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader is bent on independence.

Calderon`s office said in a statement that the pair had discussed "the importance of promoting ethical values in contemporary society."

"It will all depend on whether the nation still needs a figure like him or not. Let us just wait and see," he said here on Saturday.
The survey mechanism to be used by the Golkar Party to select a candidate provides an opportunity for Jusuf Kalla to be nominated by the party to become its candidate for the presidential election in 2014.

Oliver Stone set to travel to iran to make Ahmadinejad documentary

American Academy Award winning director Oliver Stone is due to travel to Tehran to film a documentary, semi-official news agency Fars reported.

Stone is expected to arrive in the Iranian capital within the next two or three weeks, according to the report.

In 2007 Stone announced his plan to make a documentary about Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad but scheduling conflicts prompted him to postpone the project.

Muhammad Nazaruddin mengaku mendapatkan berkah hari raya Idul Fitri 1432 Hijriah. Alasan itulah yang membuat tersangka kasus suap wisma atlet Sea Games itu bersedia mengungkapkan keterkaitan pejabat Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK).
"Pak Nazar mengatakan dirinya mendapat berkah hari raya. Intinya, Pak Nazar bersedia "buka-bukaan" dan menceritakan apa yg ia ketahui," kata Pengacara Nazaruddin, Dea Tungga Esti usai menemui kliennya di Rutan Mako Brimob, Kelapa Dua, Depok, Selasa (6/9/2011).
Berkah tersebut, kata Dea, karena saat lebaran Mantan Bendahara Umum Partai Demokrat dapat diizinkan bertemu keluarga serta menjalankan Salat Ied berjamaah.
"Pak Nazar sekarang mempunyai kekuatan secara batin untuk bicara mengenai apa yg ia ketahui tentang keterkaitan Pejabat KPK serta orang-orang yang terkait lainnya," imbuhnya.
Diketahui, saat hari raya Lebaran, anggota keluarga yang mengunjungi Nazaruddin di Rutan Mako Brimob yaitu saudaranya Muhammad Nasir dan Hasyim. Ada pula beberapa anggota keluarga lainnya, mereka berada di dalam rutan Mako Brimob sekitar 30 menit. South Sulawesi to propose two cultural icons as world heritage

Two of South Sulawesi`s cultural icons are to be nominated for recognition as a world heritage, a local culturalist, Mukhlis Paeni, said here Friday.
The two icons were the legendary figure of Arung Palakka and the traditional Phinisi boat, he said.
The two icons deserved international recognition as a world cultural heritage because they had a very high historical value and also because they were already well-known to the world.
"In the past, South Sulawesi had proposed the nomination of the I Lagaligo script as a world cultural heritage," Mukhlis said.

Kasus meninggalnya Virginia Anggraeni, Istri Sapilul Jamil, di tol Cipularang, menambah cerita misteri yang telah berkembang di jalan tol yang menghubungkan Bandung dan Jakarta itu.
Penyebab kecelakaan, menurut seorang petugas TMC Polda Metro Jaya, Niniek, karena sopir (Saipul Jamil) kaget karena tiba-tiba ada sebuah bus menyalip dari arah sebelah kiri.
"Jadi si pengemudi kaget, dia langsung membanting stir dan mobil sempat terplanting. Lalu mobil menabrak median jalan. Namun nomor polisi bus tersebut tidak terlacak," kata Niniek, seorang petugas TMC Polda Metro Jaya saat dihubungi, Sabtu (3/9).

Govt offering 79 infrastructure projects to investors

The Indonesian government is offering 79 infrastructure projects worth US$53.4 billion to investors under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.
"The projects are categorized as ready to be offered , priority projects and potential," the deputy for means and facilities of the National Development Planning Board, Dedy S Priatna, said at the launching of PPP Project Plan Book 2011 here on Thursday.
He said out of the total number of projects 13 had been newly included in the Plan Book.
Dedy said 13 projects worth US$27.52 billion are projects that are ready to be offered. Twenty-one others are priority projects worth US$10.38 billion and 45 other projects are worth US$15.5 billion.

Hunt on for killer shark in Australia

A hunt was under way Monday for a shark that killed a 21-year-old man as police praised the courage of two surfers who brought his body back to shore.
The victim was in the water off Bunker Bay, a popular tourist spot on Australia's west coast, when the shark attacked on Sunday, biting him so badly the lower half of his body was torn away, police said.
Local reports said a Great White Shark, up to 4.5 metres long (14.7 feet), was thought to be responsible, with a plane and boats scouring the coastline to find it with the beach remaining closed.

Astronom Eropa Temukan Bintang Terlarang

Tim astronom Eropa berhasil menemukan sebuah bintang terlarang dengan Very Large Telescope (VLT) European Southern Observatory. Bintang itu bernama SDSS J102915+172927, terletak di Konstelasi Leo, bermassa lebih rendah namun lebih tua 13 tahun dibandingkan dengan Matahari.
Penemuan ini dipublikasikan di jurnal Nature, Kamis (1/9/2011) lalu. Astronom mengatakan bahwa SDSS J102915+172927 adalah bintang terlarang karena berdasarkan komposisinya, hampir seluruhnya terdiri dari elemen hidrogen dan helium, minim unsur logam lain yang lebih berat.

Pemerintah kucurkan Rp535 miliar untuk Merapi

Pemerintah pusat melalui Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) akan mengucurkan dana sebanyak Rp535 miliar untuk penanganan dampak bencana erupsi 2010 dan banjir lahar Gunung Merapi pada 2011.
"Kami sudah siap kucurkan dana. Tahun ini ada Rp535 miliar dari total penangangan bencana Merapi sebanyak Rp1,35 triliun," kata Kepala BNPB, Syamsul Maarif, saat mengunjungi hunian sementara (huntara) Jumoyo, Desa Jumoyo, Kecamatan Salam, Kabupaten Magelang, di Magelang, Jateng, Minggu.
Ia menjelaskan, dana tersebut akan digunakan untuk penanganan lima aspek yakni perumahan (huntara dan hunian tetap), perbaikan infrastruktur (jalan dan jembatan), sosial, ekonomi produktif, dan lintas sektor (perbaikan gedung sekolah dan fasilitas umum).

Kemacetan kendaraan hingga luar Bakauheni

Kemacetan arus balik kendaraan pemudik dari Pulau Sumatera tujuan Jawa sudah mencapai luar Pelabuhan Bakauheni Lampung karena ramainya kendaraan pada H+4 Lebaran, Minggu.
Kemacetan tersebut terjadi sejak Minggu siang hingga malam hari karena arus kendaraan terus berdatangan dari arah jalan lintas Sumatera, demikian pantauan ANTARA di Pelabuhan Bakauheni.
Kendaraan yang akan menyeberang ke Pelabuhan Merak tersebut macet sepanjang dua kilometer, mengular keluar pintu pelabuhan dari arah Kota Bandarlampung.
Pemicu kemacetan, selain arus balik kendaraan meningkat, juga ada truk antre yang memanjang di pintu pelabuhan hingga mengganggu kendaraan lain yang akan masuk pelabuhan.

UN agency warns on mutant bird flu in China, Vietnam

The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) on Monday warned about a new mutant strain of the deadly bird flu H5N1 virus in China and Vietnam, saying there could be a "major resurgence" of the disease.
The Rome-based organisation said it was concerned about "the appearance in China and Vietnam of a variant virus able to sidestep the defences provided by existing vaccines," adding that the new strain was known as H5N1 - 2.3.2.1.
"Virus circulation in Vietnam poses a direct threat to Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia as well as endangering the Korean peninsula and Japan," it said, warning that the virus could be spread beyond Asia by wild bird migration.

Eid Prayers turn into protests in Indian Kashmir

Thousands of demonstrators on Wednesday staged noisy anti-India protests in revolt-hit Kashmir after prayers to mark the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Thousands of Muslims poured into the streets, shouting, "We want freedom!" and "Allah is great," after offering Eid prayers in the northern town of Sopore, about an hour`s drive from Indian Kashmir`s summer capital Srinagar.
The protests were led by hardline separatist Syed Ali Geelani following prayers for the Muslim Eid al-Fitr festival.

60 yacths enter Wakatobi at conclusion of SWB

Up to the conclusion of Sail Wakatobi Belitong (SWB) 2011 in Wakatobi on Monday, 60 rally participants moored in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi.
"Since SWB was launched by Coordinating Minister of People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, 60 fancy boats each with an average of five passengers, had moored in Wakatobi," Wakatobi Regent Hugua said in Kendari on Monday.
Hugua said some of the fancy boats that had entered Wakatobi left Darwin, Australia, on July 23, 2011, while others left from Canbera, Australia.
