A total of 100 policemen will be deployed to guard Hollywood actor Richard Gere who will visit the Buddhist Borobudur Temple on Sunday.
Magelang Police Chief Adj. Senr Comm. Edy Murbowo said that the security maintenance during the visit of the Hollywood actor at the temple would be carried out in a normal way, not excessive.
He said that most of the 100 personnel will wear plain clothes so that Gere`s privacy would not be disturbed.
It was reported earlier that the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park (TWCB) management was ready to greet and receive the actor.
"We are ready to receive Richard Gere, both for the staging of The Masterpiece of Borobudur Ballet and his intention to make the rounds of villages around Borobudur Temple," TWCB spokesman Pujo Suwarno said.Magelang Police Chief Adj. Pujo said to ensure the security of Gere`s visit, the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park management had coordinated with the Magelang district police.
He said the Hollywood actor who played in the movie Pretty Women would be in Indonesia from June 26-28, 2011 at the invitation of Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Cacik.
Pujo said Gere would arrive in Jakarta on Saturday, June 25, and fly the next day to Yogyakarta where he would be welcomed by the Yogyakarta governor at Adisucipto airport.
The Hollywood actor is scheduled to visit Borobudur temple on Sunday to see The Masterpiece of Borobudur Ballet which would be staged from 20.30-21.30 in the evening.
